I started laying out broadsheet pages at my college paper as Managing Editor, then I moved into designing and producing brochures, flyers, pamphlets for educators and field researchers. I have never really been a writer without also being a designer of pages, books and booklets, and information products of some sort or other. I even designed a label for a micro-brewed beer.
I eventually became the Editor-in-Chief of a bi-monthly journal of environment and community living. The demanding work and tight schedules taught me how to work under considerable pressures and deadlines. It was like an aerobic class that only quit at the end of the day when you turn out the lights and go to bed.
Naturally, print layout and design evolved into webpage design and content development, which is a whole other challenge. But ever since I had my first computer in 1988, I have been deisgning. The greatest constraint anyone has with design, whether for print or web, is availability of and keeping up with technology; however, I aim to keep things simple to help you. Just email or call and we can talk about your project and what you are looking for. I could also help you navigate the different possible scenarios.
